John E. Losty & Florence 'Tilly' LaPierre

John E. Losty is the son of George J. Losty and Delina Russell Losty.  John was born June 1, 1915 in Holyoke, Massachusetts on (date).  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served (years).  When John got out of the service he returned to his mother's home and remained at her side until he married his bride Miss. Tilly LaPierre in 1957. 

Special Thanks goes to Florence 'Tilly' (LaPierre) Losty for her contributions in telling the stories in this family including the following story regarding her nickname 'Tilly'. 

 

When Florence was a young woman she was graced with the nickname Tilly by her employer whose wife's name was also Florence.  While enjoying a good book one day, the employer came across a female character in the book named Tilly.  He decided to call his Florence his employee by the name Tilly to distinguish between her and his wife Florence when engaged in conversation. He referred to Miss. LaPierre as Tilly so frequently all his employees began calling her Tilly.  Her co-workers called her by the name Tilly so much that her family began calling her Tilly.  And that is how Florence LaPierre came to be known as Tilly Losty. 

John and Tilly never had children.

the Buffalo Club.  Uncle John used to work at the Westfield, Mass. Juvenile Detention Unit operated by the Department of Youth Services.  He retired from there in 1977.
